I will place inside my magic box
All the memories of my life—
The laughter and the tears of time,
My thoughts, and every word of God.
I will place inside my magic box
The sounds of all my instruments,
The grand, warm voice of Josh Groban,
And most of all, the sound of silence.
I will place inside my magic box
My triumphs in this fleeting world—
My certificates and my uniform,
My notebooks, letters, and my cards.
I will place inside my magic box
My struggles and my sweetest dreams,
The sacrifices made for love,
My soul, my spirit, and my flesh.
My magic box is vast and grand,
With rubies shining on its lid;
The sign of Cancer on each side,
And carved atop—my very name.
And when the time has come to say goodbye,
I’ll hand this magic box to Jesus Christ;
With a gentle smile, I’ll look at Him and say,
“Thank You, Lord, for all my blessings.”
